sSIG AAOMPT: sSIG Goals and meeting minutes

AAOMPT sSIG Leadership Meeting Minutes

Date: January 10, 2012

Time: 8:11 MST

Goals for the year:

· Goals were discussed with alterations made as attached to the 4 subsections:

o Membership goal was suggested at 350 people

§ Notation made that this number may be difficult due to merging of annual conference with the international conference in Quebec

o Discussion held regarding specifics of resources available for students

§ Online forum – use as Q&A for practicing clinicians and separate for students with questions amongst selves

· Suggestion of possible patient discussion with questions

§ Means to connect students for study groups

§ Partnerships with local clinics/fellows for extra lab sessions

o Suggestion of bringing possibility of using mentorship and monthly speakers/presentations to AAOMPT board as potential credit for fellowship renewal

o Quarterly newsletter with upcoming information to be sent out as email blast

§ Adding student section to current articulation that is modified of our newsletter

§ Must talk to AAOMPT staff to create/help us with

o Set goal of active membership at 10 schools looking to spread regionally

CSM

· Representation

o Sign up for mentor/mentee

o Listing of benefits/resources

· sSIG flyer – to be given out at CSM

o flyer created by Kyle discussed

o noted to not change what listed on the flyer until programs are in place for them

o suggestion by Katie to be used as resource as well to send to faculty

· sSIG representative(s)

o call for who was attending CSM

§ Katie – definite

§ Charlie – noted ? per Katie

§ Polling members who were at conference to see if interested or attending suggested

§ Secondary suggestion to poll those in classes tosee who may be interested in helping out

§ Katie to contact Pam Owens for blurb in monthly newsleter asking for volunteers

· Website/blog

o Merge with AAOMPT

§ Bob Rowe asked about merging the blog to have students interact with those soon to be professional colleagues

§ Noted concern with going through another person/management to update and run our site

§ Concern noted by Emily about taking up a lot of space on their website as well as needing the extra tabs

§ Compromise that we could combine a linked discussion board on the main site and update our information on the main site with link to our blog

· Request from Conference Committed regarding specific feedback and what worked and did not

o Conference
